Richardson Massage Therapy

Hi! I’m Dawn Attebery, Licensed Massage Therapist and owner of Richardson Massage Therapy, located in Richardson, Texas. My husband, Paul, and I have been proud Richardson residents for nearly 20 years.

When I was 10 years old, besides having a tremendous crush on Andy Gibb (remember the song, Shadow Dancing?), I had MAJOR hip surgery. The surgeon did a bone graft to create a better socket so my hip wouldn’t constantly dislocate; he also ended up moving around some muscles in the process. This procedure put me in a body cast for the entire summer, and was followed by some very painful rehab. From this experience, I became incredibly empathetic towards anyone dealing with chronic physical pain because I have lived it and I know how much it impacts everything in life.

I’ve also had my share of anxiety and depression over the years. When I was first diagnosed-- in addition to more traditional therapies-- I found that massage was tremendously helpful. It provided me with pain relief while also lowering my levels of stress and anxiety both during and after each session. So, when I celebrated the big 5-0, I made the choice to change careers. I had previously been a software engineer and then a photographer and knew I was meant to do more. It became my mission to help people in a meaningful way, and massage was the natural choice for me. I help people lower their stress levels so they can feel like themselves again. It's my passion to support women with anxiety and depression because I’ve been there, and I know what it feels like to have constant stress and that never-ending feeling of waiting for the other shoe to drop. I know from personal experience how massage therapy complements traditional therapies on this journey of life.

As far as hobbies, lying in a hammock reading a book might just be my favorite way to spend a crisp, sunny, fall afternoon. I love KERA radio, a good glass of wine, and a cross-country road trip every now and then (not all that the same time, of course!) My husband and I are recent empty nesters and I'm also step-mom to three adult daughters as well as a grandmother to two little boys and two little girls. We also have a Tonkinese cat, Dante. Family means a lot to us, so each month we have a get-together where we eat a big meal, celebrate that month's birthdays, and then play a game or sing karaoke... What a fun-loving household we are! We have been through a lot together and we are stronger for it. Paul and I have been married 20+  years, and he is the best husband I could ever ask for. I'm so very thankful for him and for our close-knit family.

I look forward to connecting with you and working together soon!
