Who should not get Sarga massage? As I’ve posted about before, I am a Certified Sarga Practitioner. I use my feet to deliver myofascial release. In this post, I will explain some of the contraindications.
My first goal is to not cause harm, so I am very cautious when it comes to clients’ medical conditions. Swedish massage is a lighter technique, so some of these do not apply. For example, pregnant clients can get a Swedish massage, but they should not get a Sarga massage. But for deep tissue, including Sarga, there are some conditions which are an absolute no. This is not a complete list, but they may contain something you hadn’t thought about:
- Acute inflammatory conditions.
- Recent eye procedures.
- People on meds for bruising or blood clotting.
- Varicose veins.
- Recent eye procedures.
- Any implants within 9 months, such as IUD, breast implants, joint replacements, artificial eye lenses, etc.
- Untreated high or low blood pressure. Sarga especially affects those with low blood pressure.
- Recent severe injuries or any fractures.
- Fever or flu-like symptoms.
- Advanced osteoporosis.
In addition, there are some conditions which I treat with caution, so be sure to inform me if you have any of these things going on:
- Kidney disorders.
- Herniated discs.
- Autoimmune diseases.
- Joint injections.
- Recent surgeries.
- Sciatica.
- Scoliosis.
- Low platelet count.
- Vertebral fusions.
- Heavy menstrual cramping.
- Recent bruises.
I hope this answers some of your questions about who should not get Sarga massage. As always, if you have any questions at all, please let me know by texting 972.813.9083 or emailing me at Dawn@RichardsonMassageTherapy.com. Thanks for reading!
