Are you a cold-natured person? Are you worried you will get cold during massage? Keep reading to find out how I help my cold-natured clients feel comfortable during massage.
A Little Secret
First, here is a little secret about massage therapists. A lot of us get really hot and sweaty while we are working! It is a physical job and it can be a workout. So, generally, having a warm room is pretty miserable for us. Don’t despair, though. There are solutions to help you feel warm during massage.
How To Not Get Cold During Massage
If you know you’re cold-natured or are cold when entering the massage room, the first thing you should do is tell your massage therapist. If you’re cold with your street clothes on, I guarantee you’ll be colder when you get on the massage table.
What Your Massage Therapist Can Do
Your massage therapist can do several things to help you. First, she can turn of a fan that might blow on you. Second, she can turn on a massage table warmer (if she has one; I do). The table warmer will make the biggest difference to you. She can also give you an extra blanket. She can cover up the areas she is not actively working on.
What You Can Do To Not Be Cold During Massage
As for what you can do, you can leave your socks on. Sometimes, having cold feet makes your whole body feel cold. In my office, you don’t have to skip the foot massage if you choose to wear socks; I’m happy to remove them and replace them.
Additionally, you can tuck your arms in under the covers. This will help immensely; the less skin you have out, the better.
Another thing you can do if you’re cold-natured is arrive to the office with dry hair. I generally don’t recommend wet hair in any case, but especially in this case.
Finally, wear warm clothing into the massage place if you tend to get cold. Now is not the time to forego your coat!
